House for Private Art Collector, London

The concept developed was to create a home integrating art objects, paintings and private library without any sense of it being a gallery or public space.

The design work involved a fundamental reorganisation of walls, windows and ceilings directing natural light across the spaces, opening up surprising views of the pieces and garden. This was achieved by careful reorganisation of the structure to focus costs where it mattered for maximum effect and sensitive attention and integration of artificial and natural light. The selection of natural materials of black belgium limestone, reclaimed oak boards and light limestones with bespoke timber cabinets and joinery were chosen for their depth and tactility. A full AV system and computer drives were also accommodated.
